Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 18, 2025

At Digital Connect Marketing, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose,
and safeguard data for our clients and website visitors in the USA and Canada. By using our website or services, you consent to the data practices described in this Policy.

Our privacy practices comply with applicable laws, including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and relevant U.S. privacy laws. We also aim to adhere to principles consistent with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for any personal data of California residents, as described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, as well as some data automatically collected when you interact with our website or use our services. The types of data we collect include:

  • Personal and Business Contact Information: When you fill out a contact form, request a demo, or communicate with us, we collect information such as your name, company name, email address, phone number, and any details you provide about your business needs. If you enter into a contract with us, we may also collect your business address and other contact details as part of the client onboarding process.
  • Contract and Billing Information: If you become a client, we will collect information needed to execute our services and process payments. This may
include contractual data such as your company’s service preferences, account credentials you share with us (e.g., access to your Google Ads or social media
accounts), and billing details. Note: We do not collect credit card or payment information through our public website (since we do not process payments on the site). However, if you provide payment details to us through other means (e.g., via a signed agreement or over the phone for invoicing purposes), we will handle that information securely.
  • Client Campaign Data: In the course of providing marketing services, we may collect and handle data related to your marketing campaigns. For example, we might have access to your website analytics data, ad campaign performance metrics, Google Analytics reports, Google Ads account data, or Facebook Ads insights (“Client Data”). This data often includes aggregated information about how
internet users interact with your website or ads (such as click-through rates, conversion statistics, and audience demographics). It may also include data you store in your customer relationship management (CRM) systems that you share with us for campaigns (like email lists), subject to our agreements. We treat all such Client Data as confidential and use it only for your services.
  • Usage Data & Cookies: When you visit our website, certain information is collected automatically. This includes your IP address, browser type, device information,
pages visited, and the timestamps of your visits. We also use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like pixel tags or analytics scripts) to collect information about how you use our site. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us remember your preferences, understand which pages of our site are popular, and improve your experience. For instance, we use Google Analytics to track website usage patterns (which may set cookies to gather usage statistics). This usage data is generally aggregated and not used to identify you personally, but it is considered personal data in some jurisdictions (like IP addresses can be personal data under privacy laws).
  • Communications: If you contact us via email, phone, or through social media, we may keep records of that correspondence. This can include inquiries, project discussions, feedback, or support requests. These records will contain any personal information you chose to include (such as your email address or phone number and the content of your communication).

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as social insurance numbers, health information, or personal details of a sensitive nature) through our website. We also do not target or knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Our website and services are intended for businesses and individuals over 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can remove it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes, in line with your expectations when you provided the data:

  • To Provide Services and Operate Our Business: The primary use of your information is to deliver the marketing services you have requested. For clients, this means using your information and data (as described in Section 1) to plan and execute marketing campaigns, improve your website SEO, manage ads, create content, etc. For example, we might use your business details and goals to formulate a marketing strategy, or use your website’s analytics data to adjust an SEO campaign.
  • To Communicate with You: We use your contact information (email, phone) to communicate with you about our services. This includes sending proposals, responding to inquiries, scheduling demos or meetings, sending service updates, and providing customer support. If you filled out a form on our site, we will use the provided email/phone to respond to your request or questions. We may also send administrative emails (e.g., information about changes to terms or privacy policy, or important notices related to your account or services).
  • To Improve and Personalize Services: We analyze usage data and feedback to improve our website and offerings. For instance, data on how visitors navigate our site helps us optimize user experience and content. Internally, we may study the results of our client campaigns (in aggregate) to refine our strategies and the performance of our AI-driven marketing techniques. We may also use AI tools and algorithms on collected data to generate insights that improve campaign performance (all within the scope of the services we’re providing you). Any AI or analytics we apply to your data is aimed at delivering better results to you and is not used for unrelated purposes.
  • Marketing and Newsletters (With Consent): If you have opted in or it is legally permissible, we may use your contact details to send you marketing
communications about our services, new features, or success stories. For example, we might send a newsletter or an email about a new blog post or case study that we think could interest you. You can opt out of these emails at any time (see Your Rights below). We will not spam you; we aim to send content that is relevant and valuable.
  • Compliance and Legal Obligations: We may use your information to comply with legal requirements. For instance, we may keep records of transactions or communications as required by tax law or for accountability under privacy laws. If required, we might use and disclose information in response to lawful requests by public authorities (e.g., to meet national security or law enforcement requirements), or as part of legal proceedings if we are involved in a court case, subpoena, or investigation. Using data for legal purposes also includes enforcing our contracts and terms (e.g., using information to address a breach or to pursue unpaid fees through collections).
  • Protecting Rights and Preventing Misuse: We may process and retain data as necessary to prevent fraud, cyber-attacks, or misuse of our website and services. For example, we might log IP addresses to detect multiple failed login attempts or suspicious activities on our site. This helps protect both you and us. If we detect security threats or receive abuse reports, we may use relevant data to investigate and mitigate issues.

We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for a related purpose that is compatible with the original purpose. If we need to use your personal information for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and, if required, obtain your consent.

3. How We Share or Disclose Information

Your privacy is important to us. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for profit. We will only share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With Service Providers and Partners: We share information with trusted third parties that help us run our business and deliver our services. These include:
  • Technology Providers: For example, we use Google products (like Google Analytics, Google Ads) and Meta/Facebook tools for advertising; these platforms will process data (such as website usage via cookies or ad performance data) as part of our campaigns. We also may use a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system or other software to store client information and track projects. If you submit a contact form, your info might go into our CRM or email system (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, MailChimp, etc.) to allow us to manage the lead or client relationship.
  • Subcontractors or Consultants: Sometimes we work with vetted freelancers or partner agencies to fulfill certain services (for instance, a specialist copywriter or a web developer). They will be given access only to the data necessary for their task and are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations.
  • Hosting and Cloud Services: Our website and data might be stored on third-party servers or cloud platforms (for example, if our website is hosted by a third-party hosting company or if we use cloud storage for backups). These providers technically process data but only under our instructions and for storage/hosting purposes.

In all cases, we share only the information that is necessary for the third party to perform their function. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it solely for the purposes of providing services to DCM (for example, our analytics providers cannot use your data for their own marketing; they just give us aggregated stats). We carefully select providers who commit to high data protection standards.

  • Third-Party Advertising Platforms: If we are running advertising campaigns on your behalf, we will share necessary data with platforms like Google Ads,
Facebook/Meta, LinkedIn Ads, or other ad networks. This may include uploading audience lists (e.g., an email list for custom audience targeting) or integrating conversion tracking (which lets the platform know if a user completed an action on your site after clicking an ad). Such data sharing is only done to execute your campaigns and is subject to the privacy policies of those platforms. We ensure that any audience data is shared in hashed or encrypted format when possible and in compliance with platform policies. We do not permit those platforms to use your data beyond what’s needed for your campaigns, to the extent we can control it. (For example, when using Facebook Custom Audiences, we follow their terms that prohibit misuse of the data).
  • Legal Requirements and Protection: We may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a legal obligation, such as a subpoena, court order, or government demand; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of DCM; (c) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the site or the public; or (d) protect DCM against legal liability. In plain terms, if the law demands it, we might have to share data with authorities – but only what is strictly required.
  • Business Transfers: If DCM undergoes a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, personal information we have collected may be among the assets transferred. We would ensure the acquiring party is bound to respect the personal data in a way consistent with this Privacy Policy. You would be notified via a prominent notice on our website or by email of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
  • With Your Consent: In situations where you explicitly consent to or request that we share your information with a third party, we will do so. For example, if you ask us to introduce you to one of our partner companies or provide a testimonial that includes your info, we’ll share or publish it only with your permission.

Importantly, we do not sell personal information to data brokers or third parties for their independent marketing purposes. We also do not share personal information for crosscontext behavioral advertising purposes (as those terms are defined under CCPA/CPRA) except through the use of cookies/pixels as described in the next section, which you can control.

Any third parties with whom we share data must agree to use the information only for the purposes we’ve specified and must protect the data in line with applicable privacy laws.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website to enhance user experience and analyze usage, as mentioned earlier. Here’s more detail on how we use them and how you can control them:

  • Types of Cookies: The cookies on our site may be analytical (to count visitors and see how they move around the site, so we can improve site functionality) and functional (to remember your preferences, e.g., if our site has any preference settings). We may also use advertising or remarketing cookies set by third parties like Google or Facebook. For example, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track user interactions (these cookies may track things like how long you stay on our site, pages you visit, and what site you came from). We might also use the Facebook Pixel or Google Ads cookies that help us with ad targeting – these allow us to potentially show you DCM ads on other platforms if you have visited our site (also known as remarketing).
  • Cookie Consent: When you first visit our site, you might see a notification (if required by law) about the use of cookies. By continuing to use our site, you are implying consent to the placement of cookies on your device. You can always choose to disable cookies as described below if you prefer.
  • Your Choices: You have control over cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser settings to decline cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. For example, you can typically find cookie settings in the “Options” or “Preferences” menu of your browser. You can also remove or clear cookies from your browser at any time. Please note that if you disable cookies, some features of our website may not function properly (for instance, videos might not load, or preferences might not be saved). However, our site should remain largely usable even without cookies.
  • Do Not Track Signals: Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that lets you signal to websites that you do not want to be tracked across different sites. At this time, we do not respond to DNT signals in a standardized way, because there is no consistent industry standard for compliance. We do respect your privacy, and outside of the cookie-based tracking on our own site, we do not track your activities on other websites.
  • Third-Party Analytics: As noted, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google. Google Analytics may collect information like your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. Google provides a browser add-on if you wish to opt-out of Google Analytics tracking (the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Addon). We also honor any opt-out preferences you set via Google’s Ad settings or similar tools for other platforms (e.g., if you opt out of interest-based ads via Facebook’s settings, our pixels will respect that).
  • Advertising & Remarketing: We may utilize Google Ads and Facebook Ads to advertise our services. These platforms use cookies and identifiers to track ad performance and user interactions. If we run remarketing, third-party vendors (like Google) may show our ads on sites across the Internet, using cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to our website. You can opt-out of Google’s use of cookies for advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings, and likewise, you can adjust your ad preferences on Facebook. Additionally, you can opt-out of many third-party trackers by using opt-out tools provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance or Network Advertising Initiative in the US, or the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (for Canadian users).

By using our site without disabling cookies, you consent to our use of cookies as described here. For more detailed information on how we use cookies or to change your preferences, you can contact us anytime at hello@dcmarketing.ca.

5. Data Security Measures

DCM takes reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. We implement a combination of technical, administrative, and physical security measures:

  • Secure Technologies: We use encryption and secure protocols where appropriate. For example, our website is served over HTTPS, which encrypts data transmitted between your browser and our site. If we store sensitive information (like account credentials or any personal data) in our systems or databases, we use encryption or hashing to protect it at rest.
  • Access Controls: We limit access to personal data to those employees, contractors, and service providers who need to know such data for their duties. All personnel who handle personal data are instructed on maintaining confidentiality and security. Our internal systems and devices are protected by strong passwords and, where possible, two-factor authentication.
  • Secure Hosting & Storage: We utilize reputable hosting services and cloud providers that have robust security certifications and measures (such as firewalls, intrusion detection, regular security audits, and backup procedures). Data is regularly backed up to prevent loss.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: We keep our software, website platform, and plugins up-to-date to guard against security vulnerabilities. We also monitor our systems for possible attacks or intrusions and have procedures in place to respond to any suspected breach.
  • Physical Security: In any physical office environment we operate, access to computers or documents that contain personal data is restricted. For instance, paper records (if any) with personal info are kept in locked cabinets, and our devices are password-protected.
  • Employee Training: We train our team about the importance of privacy and security. Employees are required to adhere to our internal security policies, and any misuse of data or failure to follow protocols can result in disciplinary action.

Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Thus, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You should also play a role in keeping your data safe. If you have login credentials or account access that you share with us (for example, giving us a temporary password to access your analytics), it’s important that you safeguard those credentials. Once our work together is done or if you suspect any unauthorized access, we recommend updating your passwords.

If we detect any security breach that compromises your personal data, we will notify you and any relevant regulatory authorities as required by law, and will take timely action to mitigate the impact.

6. Your Rights and Choices

We believe in being transparent and giving you control over your personal information. Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., Canada, California, or others), you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access Your Information: You have the right to request details about the personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy of it. For example, Canadian individuals have a right under PIPEDA to ask for access to their personal data that an organization holds. California residents have a “right to know” the categories and specific pieces of personal info a business has collected about them. We will provide you with such information in a reasonably accessible format, subject to identity verification and as permitted by law (we may not include data that contains others’ personal info or is confidential business info).
  • Correct/Rectify Information: If any of your personal details we have are inaccurate or outdated, you have the right to request a correction or update. For instance, if you notice we have a misspelled name or wrong phone number on file, let us know and we will fix it. Under PIPEDA and CPRA (California), there is a recognized right to correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Delete Your Information: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions. This is sometimes called the “right to be forgotten.” For example, if you no longer want us to have your contact info on file and you are not under an ongoing contract with us, you can ask us to remove it. We will honor deletion requests to the extent we are able to do so and not obligated to retain the data (note: we may need to keep certain records for legal, billing, or internal business purposes). If you are a California resident, the CCPA grants you the right to request deletion of your personal information (with some exceptions such as if the data is needed to complete a transaction, detect fraud, or comply with a legal obligation).
  • Withdraw Consent / Opt-Out: If we are processing your personal information based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. For instance, if you have subscribed to our marketing emails, you can opt out of receiving marketing communications from us. Every marketing email we send will include an “unsubscribe” link. You can also contact us directly at any time to request removal from our mailing lists. If you are in Canada, this ensures compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) – we will not send you commercial electronic messages once you opt out. Additionally, if we ever consider using your data for a new purpose that requires consent, we will obtain it or give you the opportunity to opt in or out.
  • Opt-Out of “Sale” or Sharing of Data: As mentioned, we do not sell personal data in the traditional sense. However, California residents have the right to direct a business that does sell personal information to stop doing so (“Do Not Sell My Info”), and the right to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. Since we do not sell or share data in that manner, this is generally not applicable. If you have any concerns about any particular third-party cookie or advertising use, please let us know.
  • Non-Discrimination: If you exercise any of your privacy rights, we will not discriminate against you. That means we won’t deny you services or charge you different prices simply because you made a privacy request. (Some data is necessary for providing services, so if you ask us to delete data that is essential, we might be unable to continue a service – but we will explain such situations if they occur. Otherwise, your rights are respected without cost or penalty.)
  • Data Portability: You may have the right to request that we provide your personal information to you (or to another service provider) in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. This is related to the access right, and it’s often relevant if you want to transfer to a different service. We will accommodate such requests as far as is technically feasible and required by law.

How to Exercise Your Rights: If you wish to exercise any of the rights above, please contact us using the information in the Contact Us section below. Please be specific about which right you are exercising and the scope of the request. For example, “I would like a copy of all personal information you have about me that you collected when I filled out the contact form,” or “Please correct my address to XYZ,” etc.

For certain requests, we will need to verify your identity to ensure that we are providing data to the correct person (for instance, we might ask you to confirm some information we already have on file, or use an identity verification service). This is to prevent unauthorized access to your data.

We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe. Under PIPEDA, we will respond within 30 days unless an extension is needed. Under CCPA/CPRA, California
residents can expect an initial response within 10 business days and fulfillment within 45 days (with a possible 45-day extension). We will inform you if an extension is needed. Typically, our services for privacy requests are free of charge, but if a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse to act on it (we will explain why in such cases).

7. International Data Transfers

As we serve clients in both the United States and Canada, your personal information may be transferred across borders. Our headquarters is in Canada, and our website is hosted in
data centers that could be in the U.S. or Canada. If you are located in the European Economic Area or another region with data protection laws, please note that we primarily target North American businesses and do not actively offer services in Europe. However, if you still provided us with data or visited our site, be aware that your information will be processed in Canada and/or the United States. Both of these countries have different data protection laws than your region (for example, the GDPR in Europe). By using our site or services, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in Canada or the U.S.

We strive to apply appropriate safeguards to protect personal data when it is transferred internationally. For instance, if we ever needed to transfer any EU personal data to our systems in Canada, Canada is recognized by the EU as providing an adequate level of data protection for commercial organizations (under PIPEDA). For transfers from the EEA to the U.S. (if any), we would ensure compliance via standard contractual clauses or other approved mechanisms. Although this scenario is unlikely given our current client base, we include this information to be thorough.

8. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy. If changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice, such as a banner on our website or an email notification.

Your continued use of our website or services after we post the updated Privacy Policy will signify your acceptance of those changes. However, if any changes materially affect how we handle previously collected personal information (for example, if we were to start collecting new types of data or sharing data in a new way that you wouldn’t expect under the current policy), we will seek your consent as required by law.

We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Historic versions of this Privacy Policy can be made available upon request for your reference.
